THE SLOW COFFEE REVOLUTION
The coffees behind this unique blend:
1. BRAZIL MANTIQUEIRA ( THE BASE)
A coffee grown in Carmo de Minas, Brasil by the Cooperativa Cocarive, well known for its superb coffee productions. The Mantiqueira mountain range, which gives home to this coffee’s plantations, can be found in the Southeastern part of Brasil and its characterised by a special combination of factors like the special terrain, the altitude, and the weather conditions that cannot be found elsewhere. This special mix promotes the production of incredible coffees.
Region: Brasil – Carmo de minas
Altitude: 950 – 1420 mts
Producer: Cooperativa Cocarive
Cultivar: Arabica – Yellow Catuai
Processing method: Natural
This coffee gives the blend a remarkable sweetness, with notes of hazelnut, chocolate milk, and candied citron.
The reason for the extraordinary qualities of this coffee cannot be attributed solely to the geographical position of the plantations, as none of this would be possible without the great work of the more than 1,000 members of the cooperative which operate with the “working together to produce the best coffees” philosophy.
2. COLOMBIA BOLIVAR NATURAL ( THE ELEGANCE)
A Colombian coffee from the Antioquia region featuring a complex set of characteristics which make it ideal for a specialty coffee blend. Antioquia’s coffee tradition dates back to the 1700s and it is thanks to the collective efforts of coffee growers and the geographical diversity that they are able to consistently produce some of the finest Arabica coffees in the world.
Region: Colombia – Antioquia
Altitude: 1850 mts
Cultivar: Arabica – Caturra
Processing method: Natural (20 day drying process)
This coffee gives the blend a greater complexity for a full-bodied cup with intense notes of jam rum and Sacher cake.
3. ETHIOPIA GELANA ABAYA ( THE ICING ON THE CAKE)
The Gelana Abaya coffees are produced in the Gelana and Abaya “woredas” which literally mean districts, and are located a few kilometers to the northwest of the town of Yigacheffe, famous for its coffees. The attention to detail in the processes in the Gelana Abaya washing stations is impressive, so it comes as no surprise that coffees coming from these two woredas are amazingly delicious and give just the right touch of complexity to this blend.
Region: Guji / Yirgacheffe
Altitude: 1850 – 2100 mts
Cultivar: Arabica – Ethiopian Heirloom
Microlot: Grade 1
Processing method: Washed
This coffee gives the blend an extraordinary delicacy with notes of black tea, jasmine, and apricot. As well as sweet peach, nectarine, and green melon aromas.
